Technical skills for accreditation

Workers that perform one or more tasks below need to become accredited for each task. Workers are encouraged to speak to their employer about which requirements apply to them. Read more about how to become accredited here.

Copper tasks
Basic jumpering at the pillar and/or the node
Installing underground copper joint enclosure
Copper jointing
Performing copper cut-ins to mains cable
Copper fault finding
Pillar compressions, extensions & augmentations
Performing work on copper mains cable
Copper Cable Jointers and Linesworkers may need one or of more of these accreditations.
Fibre tasks
Card augments/replacements on active equipment
Fibre inspection and cleaning
Integration and commissioning of active equipment
Installing, configuring and testing of internet protocol networks
Testing and commissioning live fibre
Fibre splicing
 
Fibre Technicians and Fibre Splicers may need one or more of these accreditations.
HFC tasks
Basic radio frequency testing from the tap in
Complex radio frequency testing, both tap in and tap up
Basic coaxial cable installs from the tap in
Complex coaxial cable installs, both tap in and tap up
 
 
 
HFC Linesworkers and Technicians may need one or more of these accreditations.

Install / replace above ground cable
Any worker carrying out this activity will need this accreditation.


By when do I need to become accredited for technical skills?

Workers who are new to working on the nbn™ network need to become accredited for technical skills prior to commencing work. Those currently working on the network will have until 1 May 2016 to become accredited.

nbn will begin checking in early May 2016 that the workforce has the accreditations they require.
